1 + 1 + 1 = 3

In the early morning hours yesterday, we received the following text from Dr S:  'three sacs'.  The ultrasound shows three well defined gestational sacs - two with yolk sacs and one without - this was at 5 weeks + 1 day.  We have said all along that twins would be a welcome blessing and by the same token I have worried all along that four embryos might turn into more than twins - and then, the dreaded 'selective reduction' procedure.  Well, here we are with three sacs...the heartbeat scan is next week so no need to worry just yet.  One of the sacs is slightly smaller than the other two (and it happens to be the one without a noticable yolk sac), so there is a chance that nature will take care of this on its own.

For now, we celebrate!

OMG!!!!! Twins certainly are a double blessing, and it would be great if nature took care of the third. So looking forward to hearing your heartbeat scan report.

Definitely twins, am hoping you don't need to face the dreaded SR. It's done very early with SCI (8-9 weeks) ... but no need to stress about that just yet.

Oh My! you guys will be fine with your twins. Mark was a twin, but we knew early on that the other twin might not survive, becuase the heartbeat was only at 100, and Mark's heatbeat was at 135.

Wow, I am so incredibly happy for you!!! We had exactly the same occur with ours (3 gestational sacs, one slightly different at the first scan) and eventually nature did help decide our destiny instead of a SR procedure deciding for us... best wishes to you.
